Online Bingo is classified as gambling. Therefore for some religious denominations, this qualifies it as an undesirable activity. Depending on how seriously you take your religion, online bingo can be on your list of things that you do not wish to get involved in. This is a question that continues to occupy the legislators across the globe. On the one hand they wish to have a secular form of government that respects the individual right to enjoy any pastime as long as it does not impact on the rights of others. On the other hand the religious lobby insists that gambling is fundamentally wrong. Some people go as far as advocating the complete banning of the activity.
The religious standpoint has its merits. If we accept that online bingo is a form of gambling, then we also accept that it will have the major characteristics of a gambling activity. The most offensive part of online bingo for the religious followers is that it allows people to get something for nothing. However on closer examination I do not agree with this premise. Gambling requires some mental strength and some skills which the ordinary person will have to learn in order to be successful. If we completely dismiss it as a game of chance then we are not doing justice to the process that people go through in order to play the game.
